About KDCDC: we are an incorporated not-for-profit organization. Our volunteer Board of Directors consists of community minded individuals who represent the communities within our area. They are committed stakeholders in their communities who enjoy the quality of life here and want to contribute to the economic and social health of our area. Decisions on loan investments and community projects are made locally.
Our office, a Community Futures Development Corporation (CFDC), receives the majority of its revenues from contributions provided by the federal government from Industry Canada through FedNor.
Our Primary Focus
Small Business and Community Economic Development. Our office works with area residents and communities to:
Encourage and support small business.
Encourage involvement, forward looking vision and positive outlook.
Plan and facilitate action regarding changes, which will affect the region.
Community Futures Program
FedNor’s Community Futures (CF) Program, supports 24 Community Futures Development Corporations (CFDCs) in Northern Ontario. CFDCs offer a wide variety of programs and services supporting community economic development and small business growth.
In particular, they provide:
- Strategic community planning and socio-economic development;
- Support for community-based projects;
- Business information and planning services; and
- Access to capital for small and medium-sized businesses and social enterprises.
These community-based, not-for-profit organizations are staffed by professionals and are each governed by local volunteer boards of directors familiar with their communities; needs, concerns, and future development priorities. Learn more.
